Position: Young Carers Youth Worker
This role is funded for 1 year
Pay: £8.21 per hour
Location: Downham Market
Contract Type: One Year Fixed Term Contract
Hours per week: 4 hours per week term time only (32 weeks) Wednesday 4pm – 6pm (2 hours planning and prep)
Job Role:
• To support and plan delivery of high quality youth work programmes with young carers in the area.
• To ensure that evaluation of the work occurs in consultation with participants, staff and management at all levels.
• To work co-operatively with the team and under the direction of the Project Manager.
• To undertake administrative work associated within the session under the direction of the manger / Worker in Charge of the session.

The SWAN Youth Project is a community-based youth charity located in Downham Market West Norfolk, an area marked by significant disadvantage in learning, skills, employment, and health
The Project was created to be a centre of excellence for youth work in the area empowering enabling and educating young people to be the best they can We deliver programs in Downham Market and Wereham Norfolk
Created in the year 2011 in response to high levels of need, the SWAN Youth Project currently employs two part time staff and uses volunteers to provide programs and projects which aim to help to enrich young people’s lives.
Our approach to delivering services is key to our success and focuses on youth engagement which enables us to deliver innovative but focused programs in response to need. We aim to Engage, Empower and enable, and then Support our young people to overcome their barriers and achieve their aspirations, empowering them with the confidence, skills and knowledge necessary to resolve their own needs in the long term.

What you’ll need to succeed:
The successful candidate will have an understanding of Youth Work in a community setting as well as the challenges for Young Carers. They will have strong engagement skills to work with young people and adults from a variety of backgrounds as well as experience of youth participation and involvement. We would like them to have time and project management skills and experience of running small group sessions /activities with young people.

Job Role:
• To plan and deliver high quality youth work programmes with young carers in the area.
• To ensure that evaluation of the work occurs in consultation with participants, staff and management at all levels.
• To work co-operatively with the team and under the direction of the Project Manager.
• To undertake administrative work associated within the session under the direction of the manger / Worker in Charge of the session.
• To develop and support positive and productive relationships with and between members of staff.
• To monitor the changing needs of young people to identify opportunities and areas for service improvement.
